MoD What are you playing at?

The MoD, in its infinite wisdom is presently going through to courts trying to claw back the compensation it was ordered to pay, claiming that they should only be responsible for the first injury and not any further complications that these injured men and women may face even if they are related to the original injury.
Defence Minister Kevan Jones said the action was about trying to introduce "fairness" to the scheme.
Fairness?!
Kevan, have you yourself been injured in the head and now can't see things straight or indeed fully understand what is going on around you. If that's the reason for this court action, then I would understand. However I suspect you're not injured, nor indeed retarded, although the the jury is out on that one, and it seems your lack of understanding comes not from a lack of knowledge, but a deep misguided understanding of what drives the UK general public.
This isn't a political blog, I treat you all with the same level of distrust, so don't take it personally when I say you are a fucking idiot if you thought that this was a good idea or indeed good timing for your own party and your own skin.
The UK has gone to battle since roughly Labour has been in power. In that time families in the UK have had to come to terms with the loss of loved ones, injuries to loved ones and don't forget the mental struggle a lot of people will go through over the years. The British public stand united on the streets of Wootton Bassett, they stand united on the streets of London, of Glasgow and anywhere else where our freedom is threatened.
The very least you could do is give these men the dignity that they deserve and stop this action going through the courts. Can I ask how much the court proceedings have cost? More than the compensation, yes I'll take that bet.
Your an idiot, if you don't back the forces people won't join and nor will you get the political support that you so desperately crave - it's as simple as that.
You're a disgrace, the MoD is a disgrace and yet, I expected little else.

Doritos and Dodgeball

If you haven't got round to playing this yet, you're missing out.
Devised by those clever folk back at AMV, and produced by the ever talented Unit9 you are, by
the power of 21st century technology, able to go online and shoot people like Timmy Mallett
(sadly only with harmless balls) - for those outside the UK, he's an annoying twat who happens
to get on the TV, a lot.
It's a great execution of work allowing pretty much realtime shooting from your mouse,
which must have been a logistical nightmare, but it's worked extremely well and certainly
captures the silliness that is Dodgeball.
A quick apology for anyone who plays Dodgeball at a serious level, I'm not taking the piss.
By all accounts Jody Marsh (another talentless halfwit who happens to crave attention)
was pretty good even though she has a phobia of balls - oh it's too easy so I won't.
So, click the link, log in and get firing at the hapless fools. Take note, there is a team
from AMV heading down on Sunday - so get your eye and trigger finger in before then.

Argentinian Taxi Driver returns £22k to owner

Argetinian taxi driver Santiago Gori found £21,600 in the back of his cab. After a few days of searching he found the elderly couple and returned their money. A website has been set up to thank Mr Gori for his exemplary behaviour.

What a stand up guy, a gentlemen even.

Faith in human nature restored a little today.

Orange, just how shit can you actually get?

How absolutely shit can the above company get?

Run by a bunch of fucking idiots who seem to be clueless as to what's going on around them. Orange, you are wasting resources, time, effort and customers with practises that are more in line with Dickens than the 21st century.

I've been with Orange for 9 years and never had a bad word to say against them, until now. Not only will they not let me change my phone (even though my personal situation has changed massively and I wanted to give them more money, lots more money) but they've now stiffed me for massive roaming costs, even though I couldn't use my phone properly abroad.

On top of that, I reach the customer service department (how about looking up the phrase Customer Service and finding out exactly what it means you donuts!) who have been utterly useless - where did you get these people from?, the fallout of the banking industry? - In fact, they've been worse than useless because they have proven to me that Orange don't give a shit about loyal customers.

So here it is Orange, you have lost me and countless others with your behaviour. I'm leaving and when I exit your shit arse customer services team are going to get the works from me. I wouldn't feel a twinge of guilt if you go under before the end of the year.

Well done France Telecom for ruining a perfectly good company, a sterling job done all round.

Here's to your demise.

Politicians, greedy bastards or just misunderstood?

It's a simple question with a simple answer. Greedy bastards.

Just because you can do it Geoff (and the rest of you are no better) doesn't mean that you should. I can't actually believe that you thought this was correct. You're more of an idiot than your picture portrays, well done for that at least.

Every 10 plus years this country plunges through the floor, you take none of the responsibility and we move on. Governments change and the whole 600 + of you in Parliament get even more money out of the taxpayer.

You have no shame, you're disgraceful and above all you don't seem to see how you're not a fault.

Yes the system of MP's expenses needs immediate change, and there are a number of routes to make this easy for both the public and MP's to understand.

What also needs to change is the attitude of MP's - it cannot and will not continue in the vein that it is now.

Using tax payers money to pay for your 3rd house. Your 3rd house for fuck's sake!

I need not say anymore. For now.

Binyam Mohamed, if you dance with the devil.....

I can't sit here and say that I agree with the CIA's or MI5's tactics.

However, one thing is certain. You do not, under any circumstances, go to Afghanistan to wean yourself off drugs.

That's tantamount to a gambling addict going to Vegas to "sort his head out"

The story doesn't really hold up does it?

Binyam, your friends and family should have given you sound advice, which you would have done well to take on board.

Sympathy for your plight, yes I have some but really, there were some extremely bad decisions on your part.

Everton vs Liverpool and ITV fuck it up with style.

Is it any wonder that Sky Sports has done so well when given that this is the competition?

Grade saying that steps are in place to make sure it doesn't happen again.

How the fuck did it happen in the first place? why weren't steps in place to stop this. Are there steps in place to stop this happening with other live events?

I don't remember weird ad breaks coming on at the wrong time when other live events have been broadcast.

Inept twats.

Bergmonch Folding backpack bike

Those that know me well enough can and bloody will testify to my fanatical approach to outdoor sports and general running around.

So imagine my delight when I saw this in Inhabitat - a bike that weighs in at 9.5kg, folds out from a backpack and has storage facilities also.

No price as yet, but RRP should be under £400 - well let's hope so.

Online Retailers & Unfinished business costs

Online retailing and Unfinished business costs.

Andrew Walmsley - co-founder of i-level (knows his work and is a charming individual to boot) wrote a piece for Marketing this week regarding online retailers and the need for them to measure the amount of customers who check out before reaching the checkout.

Which, I may add, I agree with wholeheartedly, and have raised the same points over the years, mainly to deaf ears.

However he does raise one point which I don't agree with. "Customers don't write letters about this; they don't complain to the press. They just disappear."

Now this just isn't true. They blog and in most cases they do send emails of complaint, although these are normally directed at the company and not the press.

In most cases the problem lies with usability of the site. E-commerce sites will improve but I believe that marketers should sit down with both UE specialists and IA's and work out natural stopping points within sites and work together to ensure that when customers do leave the site, then they can work out why and if required tweak, fix and enhance.

If it's easier to go the the shops, then people will.

McVities Digestive Biscuits 'Leaving'

What the fuck were they thinking when they made this? It is an utter turd of an advert. In fact it's offensive.

I would complain to the ASA, but it would only serve to increase further air time.

One final rant on this, am I the only one that got the feeling that the wheat leaving to be a digestive came across as gay?

Tony Hart - R.I.P.

I blogged a while back regarding Tony Hart recently having to give up drawing after suffering two strokes, something he said was "the greatest cross I have to bear".

On Sunday, aged 83, Tony Hart passed away.

He was an inspiration to many and the world will be less colourful without him.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Suits, Great Service and Speedy Delivery from Indochino

Indochino, not a new concept, just a very good one by all accounts.

Measure yourself, or indeed have yourself measured - fill in your details including your body shape, pick out the style of suit that you want and then wait for delivery within 2 weeks.

Any problems with the suit, you can have it altered for free, if that doesn't suffice you can ask for the suit to be remade. For free!

Total cost averages in at around $300 which is roughly £220 for your bespoke suit. Certainly not to be sniffed at in the current financial climate.

The fabrics look high quality, the workmanship is there to see, so no ill fitting potato sack with a bit of old string turning up in the post two weeks after you part with your cash.

Co-founders Heikal aand Kyle have an excellent concept, I wish them both continued success.

Paypal, what a shite company they really are

Paypal, what a load of utter shit. I'd rather cut off a limb than deal with these wankers again.
"Hi I'd like to transfer some cash into my paypal account"
"Certainly sir, we can do that. Oh here's the thing though. I know we are an online company and we are meant to be using state of the art systems, but the money won't be cleared to use for 7-9 days.
7-9 days, are you having a fucking laugh? That's a holiday pal. It is not the length of time I expect to wait to have funds cleared in this day and age.
Hello! hello! hello! this isn't the Flintstones, it's the 21st Century. Get with the programme, sort out your payment mechanisms - fucking speed it up. Chop chop!

Grasshopper Folding Electric Bike

Now normally when someone mentions the words 'electric bike' you picture an ugly, colossal grey mess with the design input of a turd. No not Slough, but you get the idea.

So when I saw this on Inhabitat it came as a bit of a shock. Although I imagine I'll have a bigger shock when I find out the price.

Still I'd certainly consider getting one and I'm really not big on bikes. Or indeed exercise.

Rod Blagojevich

Ok, so you have 'Blag' in your surname and you look like this.

Has no-one suspected that he might be a bit of a crook? He is in politics after all, which is usually a giveaway no matter what country you're from.

Here in the UK, we work on the same principal regarding politicians - they're all a bit dodgy, the more you hear from them, the more they're lining their pockets. They occasionally get caught, though not often enough sadly, via the fantastic investigative journalists dotted throughout industry stalwarts such as The Sun, The Star and err..... The Oban Times.

Who can forget the legend that is Jonathan Aitken - what a fucking arsehole he was - anyone
know what he's doing now?

Anyway, back to Rod Blagojevich - is this the start of the Republican backlash or is he a proper politician - a 'wrong un' who just can't deal with the power thing so early on?

Google.co.uk v Google.com

A forum question that popped up, thanks to Robin Goad @ Hitwise for providing the research.

The table below lists the top 10 search engines in the UK during the same 4 week period. By applying the percentage of UK specific searches to Google UK’s market share and creating a ‘new’ search engine, "Google UK Pages from UK only", it would be the third largest in the UK with a market share of 10.03%, behind "Google UK All The Web" and google.com. This 'new' search engine, consisting of Google searchers only looking at UK pages, would have a market share more than three times that of its nearest non-Google competitor, Yahoo! UK.

MP's call for ban on cheap alcohol promotions

Another stunningly bad idea.

So MP's are calling for a ban on cheap alcohol promotions.

I don't have the golden answer to the alleged 'drinking problem' Britain has but the above isn't the solution. One might want to look behind the alcohol, quite away behind it to find the root of the problem.

Let me take you back a few years, to the time of William Hogarth (1697-1764)

Gin Lane and Beer Alley.

Haven't we travelled far?

Trump, Aberdeen and very bad hair

So, Donald. Have you been to Aberdeen before? Of course you have. So you'll know that it's gie windy up there on the sand dunes.

Which begs the question. Is there no-one in your inner circle of friends with enough balls to tell you your hair is fucking ridiculous?

Get it cut. You look like a twat.

Oh hold on, it might not be the hair.

They may take you seriously in the US, but over here, trust me, they will rip you to fucking shreds - I'm already importing Trump wigs from China which I believe maybe the saving grace to the banking system in Scotland. Possibly the whole nation's debt.

You can ride into the capital with me as the great saviour - but not with that *Barnet.

No way.

Apple now the third largest handset maker

Earnings Call: Jobs Says iPhone Revs Total $4.6B, Making Apple The Third-Largest Handset Maker.

Jobs now claims that by revenues, Apple is the third largest mobile phone supplier in the world. Nokia (NYSE: NOK), is No. 1 at $12.7 billion; Samsung is No. 2 at $5.98 billion; Apple is No. 3 at $4.6 billion; Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) is No. 4 at $4.2 billion; LG (SEO: 066570), No. 5, at $3.4 billion; Motorola (NYSE: MOT), No. 6, at $3.2 billion and RIM, No. 7, at $2.1 billion. “It’s pretty amazing,” but Jobs cautioned that they were able to sell that many by increasing the number of countries to 51 from 6, and that it’s unclear if they can sustain that pace.

Whether they can sustain it or not it still remains pretty bloody impressive.
